Description

A necklace of fifteen barrel shaped agate beads, predominantly carnelian with opaque white and transparent quartz banding. The agate beads alternate with fourteen round collared gold beads. Each of the gold beads are faced with two lapis lazuli beads. Gold ring beads separate the lapis beads from the agate barrels. Gold beading tips and a hook and eye clasp complete the necklace. The thirty lapis lazuli beads are short cylinders or disks with rounded edges. They are 3.5mm to 4.5mm in diameter, from 2.5 mm in length to 3mm. Hole diameter is 2 mm. The fourteen round gold beads are in three sizes: 1cm in diameter and 9.5 mm in length – 8 mm in diameter and 7.5 mm in length -7mm in diameter and 6mm in length. Each has a collar of grains around the hole. The beading tips are cup like hemispheres with a circlet of flattened wire attached to the sides to provide attachment for the hook and eye clasp. There is a collar of granulation around the hole. The knot for the beading string is hidden inside the hemispheres.
